Former Somali MP Ahmed Adan found dead in Mogadishu hotel; police investigation underway

Mogadishu (HOL) – The body of Ahmed Adan, a former Member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia representing the Northern regions of Somaliland, was found in a hotel room in Mogadishu’s Hamarweyne district on Thursday evening.

The Somali police have disclosed further details about the case, revealing that a suspect is currently being held in connection with Adan’s death.

“We received reports that a former member of parliament collapsed in a hotel where he was staying in Hamarweyne. Security forces discovered him unconscious. He was promptly taken to Martini Hospital, where he succumbed to his condition. The suspect is now in custody, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of death,” stated Sadiq Aden Ali Doodishe, the Somali Police Spokesperson.

In a related incident, authorities have also apprehended Abdinasir Muse Dahable, an officer of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, in connection with another death case.

“In the investigation involving Abdinasir Dahable, we have arrested nine suspects, including residents of the house where the body was discovered, individuals in his vicinity, and some acquaintances. The investigation is making progress, and we are optimistic about its outcome. Further arrests may be made as the case unfolds,” Doodishe added.

The series of gruesome murders in the Somali capital has left the residents of Mogadishu deeply concerned. Authorities are under pressure to swiftly address the rising trend of violence plaguing the city.
