Kenya (HOL) – Somalia’s U-18 football team won a convincing 3-0 against Sudan on Tuesday afternoon in the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) U18 tournament in Kenya.
Despite the Ocean Stars’ sterling performance during the 90 minutes, this win marked their first victory since the tournament’s commencement last week.
Idris Bilaal scored in the 27th minute, followed by Mahad Shiine doubling the lead in the 66th minute. In the match’s final moments in the 90th minute, Mohamed Omar sealed the victory with the third goal.
While Somalia’s national team faced defeat in their first game against the Rwandan team, this second-game triumph instilled hope for their advancement in the tournament.
Group A’s lineup features a tapestry of regional football powerhouses, including Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, and Sudan.
