Mogadishu (HOL) – The Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor Madobe, met with the armed forces commanders in Mogadishu on Saturday to assess the progress of ongoing military operations.

Speaker Madobe commended the latest security achievements in Galmudug and Hirshabelle states. He urged the commanders to expedite efforts to eliminate militants from the country by the end of this year.

In the most recent operation, Somali military forces, supported by local militia, thwarted an al-Shabab attack in the Shabelow village of the Mudug region, resulting in the death of at least 21 militants.

During the meeting, they also discussed horrific incidents in Mogadishu, including the death of a pregnant woman and airport worker from injuries sustained when her husband allegedly set her on fire. Additionally, another man arrested for stabbing wife to death in the Qoryoley district in the Lower Shabelle region this week.

The Speaker has directed the armed forces, especially the Somali Police Command, to apprehend those responsible for these crimes against Islam, Somali culture, and humanity, wherever they may be, and to bring them to justice immediately.

The story of Luul Abdiaziz leaves a community in mourning and a nation grappling with the need for justice and protection for its most vulnerable citizens.
