Beledweyne (HOL) – Six suspected Al-Shabaab members were killed on Tuesday afternoon during an explosion in the Hiiraan region’s Beera Yabal area. The individuals were reportedly assembling a bomb in a house when the device prematurely detonated, also injuring four others.
The blast pierced the relative calm in the Buulaburte district, which had been liberated from Al-Shabaab last year. The explosion’s impact was so extensive that it was audible from a couple of km away.
Local authorities confirmed that the victims in the blast were Al-Shabaab fighters.
