Somali Minister of Finance attends Arab Economic, Social Council meeting in Cairo

Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali Minister of Finance Bihi Iman Cige attended the 113th meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Thursday.

The meeting agenda included discussions on various topics, such as the report of the Arab League’s Secretary-General and the follow-up to the decisions made between the 112th and 113th sessions.

Additionally, the meeting addressed economic and social issues ahead of the Arab League’s 33rd regular session, scheduled to take place in Bahrain in May 2024. This session will focus on Arab and international cooperation in social and development.

During the meeting, Minister Bihi provided details about the financial development of the Somali Government and the successful completion of the loan forgiveness process. He thanked the Arab Financial Institutions for their efforts in Somalia’s financial development.

Furthermore, Minister Bihi held sideline meetings with leaders from Arab countries and financial institutions who attended the conference.
