Mogadishu (HOL) – The Somali National Army, with support from local residents, conducted a planned operation on Monday to eliminate members of the Al-Shabaab group in the Barag Ali Gaduud area, located within the Harardhere district of the Mudug region.

Military officials reported that the operation resulted in the elimination of over 10 Al-Shabaab members who had gathered in the forested area of Barag Ali Gaduud.

Government forces leading the operation declared it a success. Army officer Abdirahman Jimale stated that the army recovered four AK47 rifles and one RPG during the operation, which were displayed to the public.

Somali forces, in collaboration with residents, have been actively pursuing operations against the Al-Shabaab group for an extended period in areas where the group is known to operate, specifically in the Galgaduud and Mudug regions of the Galmudug administration.

The Somali government reported that a joint raid conducted in collaboration with international partners over the weekend resulted in the deaths of dozens of Al-Shabaab fighters, including operational leaders. The raids took place in Lower Jubba and the Harardhere district of the Mudug region, both known as hubs for Al-Shabaab’s leadership.
