Mogadishu (HOL) – At least five people perished in a blaze at a gas station in the Sool region on Wednesday.

Reports from local media detail that the fire, erupting at a service station in the village of Bali-Hadhac within the Lasaanood district, claimed five lives and left nine injured.

SomNews TV reports identified a pregnant mother and her two daughters among the deceased. The incident left the family with only a daughter and her father, who were absent at the time of the fire.

The death toll from the incident stands at five, with the injured transported to hospitals in Lasaanood, Widwidh, and neighbouring towns.

The tragedy struck while the mother and daughters were shopping for Eid clothing. Lasanood district officials dispatched firefighters, medical supplies, and ambulances to the scene following the outbreak.

The fire’s origin remains undetermined, but it reportedly began in a market before spreading to the gas station and nearby areas.
