Las Anod (HOL) – The SSC-Khatumo administration displayed seven prisoners, claiming they were captured during Wednesday’s fighting between the Somaliland army and SSC-Khatumo forces in the Sool region.
Two members of the Birjeh Brigade of the Somaliland military forces, Farhan Yassin Osman and Ahmed Abdi Adan, told the media in Las Anod town that all the captured men were taken during the battle that occurred between Buqdharkayn and Yayle area in the Sool region.
The fighting on Wednesday in Buqdharkayn and Yayle resulted in casualties on both sides, and the situation remains fluid, with territorial control still in dispute.
Somaliland Minister of Information, Ali Mohamed Hassan Ali Marehaan, accused SSC Khatumo intelligence officers of initiating the conflict. In response, a spokesperson for SSC Khatumo levelled severe accusations against Somaliland.
