Garowe (HOL) – The President of the Puntland administration, Said Abdullahi Deni, has appointed a seven-member committee dedicated to Puntland Electoral Affairs Negotiation.

In a statement released Monday night, the regional state President mentioned that the committee’s appointment resulted from consultations with his Vice President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and some political parties.

The opposition has already rejected engaging in a dialogue with Deni. They argue that President Deni has emphasized his commitment to holding a one-person-one-vote election early next year, a move the opposition believes is an attempt by the government to extend its term.

The committee members, selected from the cabinet, hold influential positions in President Deni’s political agenda. The committee comprises the following individuals:

  •     Abdi Farah Said Juha (Chairman)
  •     Ibrahim Artan Haji Bakin (Member)
  •     Dr. Naima Abdirahman (Member)
  •     Abdullahi Mohamed Hassan (Member)
  •     Mohamed Abdirahman Dhabancad (Member)
  •     Hassan Yusuf Majabe (Member)
  •     Hassan Caballa Hassan (Member)

The opposition group is expected to respond to the committee’s appointment.
