An explosive device went off near the TurkSom camp on Sunday afternoon, injuring at least five people. According to government officials, the Al-Shabaab attack, targeting young recruits at the Gorgor military enrollment center on Jazeera Road, has not yet resulted in any confirmed fatalities.

Most of the victims are believed to be youths who were in line to join the Gorgor, an elite commando unit trained by the Turkish military, according to initial reports. The attacker, who attempted to infiltrate the group of youths, was intercepted by security forces before he could reach the queue and detonated the explosive.

Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging that they killed 32 government soldiers. The latest attack interrupted a period of improving security in Mogadishu, which had seen a decrease in bombings.
