Djibouti (HOL) – Somali Minister for Women and Human Rights Development, Khadijo Mohamed Diriye, passed away in Djibouti on Wednesday after a brief illness.
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, stated that Minister Khadija was admitted to a hospital in Djibouti City after an urgent medical condition, where she underwent surgery. Unfortunately, she did not wake up from the coma.
Minister Khadija had been among the government officials attending the ongoing annual Heritage meeting in Djibouti. Prime Minister Hamza Barre and other government dignitaries were also at the event.
The Somali government has announced it will issue an official statement on her death.
