Pakistan and Somali universities forge enhanced collaboration in Islamabad meeting

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (HOL) – The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), and several Somali universities have agreed to strengthen their educational ties following a high-profile meeting between Somali representatives and Pakistani educational leaders.

The Ambassador of Somalia, Shirwa Abdullahi Ibrahim, together with Prof. Dr. Hassan Osman Gaal and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Hassan, Rectors of Somalia National University and Benadir University, respectively, met with Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President of IIUI. They focused on mutual interests in education, particularly the enhancement of ties between higher education institutions of Somalia and Pakistan.

Ambassador Ibrahim praised IIUI for its significant role in promoting quality education and its approach to student welfare and research. He acknowledged IIUI’s appeal to Somali students and thanked the university for supporting Somali nationals studying there.

Dr. Alotaibi shared IIUI’s history, future plans, and recent achievements, highlighting the university’s diverse cultural environment and its global rankings boost following recent strategic reforms. He expressed IIUI’s eagerness to welcome more Somali students and facilitate academic exchanges with Somali universities.

This meeting sets a foundation for improved academic relations between Somalia and Pakistan, promising to enhance the educational landscape in both countries. The collaboration aims to foster a rich exchange of knowledge and cultural understanding, strengthening the educational bond between the nations.
