Mogadishu (HOL) – An airstrike on the border between Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions killed members of the Al-Shabaab militant group on Friday.
The operation was conducted by the Somali Federal Government forces, supported by local militias and international allies, targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts in the Jir Jir Farey and Burka Fiiqey areas, north of Ruunirgood in Middle Shabelle.
The government confirmed that the strike resulted in multiple Al-Shabaab casualties and the destruction of one of their military vehicles.
Official reports state that the operation, focused on the Jir Jir Farey and Burka Fiiqey regions, successfully neutralized a significant number of militants and decimated their equipment.
Somali government forces, with backing from international military support, have frequently executed airstrikes against Al-Shabaab positions, significantly reducing their leadership and combatant numbers.
